The Imperial Baths building was constructed at the initiative of Karlovy Vary doctors and at the expense of the city of Karlovy Vary. The construction was commissioned to the famous architectural firm Fellner and Helmer, and at the time, it was the most modern spa house in the world. The grand opening took place on May 5th, 1895, with great interest from the world press and the general public. The spa building offered more than a hundred bathhouses, but mainly a unique system for processing and transporting mud for baths. The baths served nearly two thousand people in a single day.
By government decision in 2010, the Imperial Baths building was declared a national cultural monument. During the nearly four-year renovation, the building was restored to its historical form, supplemented by the modern multifunctional Atrium hall with unique acoustics. Since the hall does not anchor to existing structures, there is no transmission of vibrations or noise. For example, the stage is equipped with a sliding acoustic wall and adjustable revolving panels that can adapt the space to various sound requirements.
The Imperial Baths are open daily all year round and offer you a wide range of experiences – from guided tours to concerts, entertainment shows. Open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. Our receptionists will be happy to book a tour of the building or tickets to one of the concerts of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, which has its home stage in this beautiful building.
